Default A Concert Blessing

I spent a wonderful evening with a couple of friends at a musical performance at a local hotel banquet room. The performer was none other than Dottie Rambo. Many of you already know many of her awesome songs she's written, so many that she doesn't always recall the words. I think unplanned, there was a young man from Chicago there also and was asked to accompany her on his keyboard, along with the taped music. He was truly a wonderful addition. He shared that the first song he ever sang was at 5 yrs old and it was one of hers. Now this young man has to be at least in his later 20s. Just gives further testimony to her great music. At the end of the night Dottie asked him to make sure he speaks with her before she leaves. I have a feeling she'll have a hand in opening some doors for this wonderful performer who played a beautiful part in her performance. He sang a bit of the song he sang at 5 yrs old without a microphone. We were smack dab up front so we could hear him, even better than she could, but I tell you it was enough for anyone to know what love this man was singing for God, and for how much he cherished her music that she has been given by God to share.

Dottie has written hundreds of songs sung by many famous people. She is lauded and performed by many other performers such as the Gaithers, Porter Waggoner, Dolly Parton, Mel Tillis Sandi Patty, Elvis Presley, the Winans and the list goes on. I found her to be so real and approachable. What was painfully hard to see is how frail this woman of God is. Her voice is not strong and wavered often, even forgetting words at times, or not playing guitar because chords weren't remembered or song was in a different key. She was assisted on and off stage by others for her safety since she can't walk much on her own, recovering from a broken leg. She has had a history of back issues with many surgeries. She sat on a high chair only to stand at the end for a couple songs. She so wants to be back on her feet to perform. You can see that passion in her, especially when she talks of the God she knows. I prayed like crazy as she wavered on her feet, fearing she would fall and hurt herself. But God carried her through even though by the end you could see she was totally spent physically.

I had visited her website the night before. It was something to listen to the videos, some old some recent. Her singing wasn't solid in voice but solid as THE ROCK in its purpose and meaning. It was tempting but I could have said, "I'm not going" since the singing itself left a bit to be desired as what would consider for concert listening. But what was the most awesome testimony was this woman's love of her Lord and Savior, and her willingness to continue to let Him use her to minister. She is into her 70s now and she says as long as He is calling she'll be going. The 2+ continuous hours went by quickly, with her anecdotes, stories, testimonies and love of sharing Him with all she meets.

Please pray with me as she continues ministering to everyone, for healing of her body, blessings for those that lovingly travel with her and assist her in this ministry. Ours was the only stop in Wisconsin at this time. Then she was on her way to Minnesota. Dottie is on the move so please also pray for traveling mercies also. Thanks all. Wish you could have enjoyed this time with me!!
