Rep Power: 1 ![]() | I thought it would be nice for each of us to share what one another does to fight temptation, be it a silent prayer of maybe a note writen on a card reminding us of God or whatever it may be. when satan has you backed into a corner and you have little way to go, how do you fight it. I carry a piece of paper in small note book "tally book" that has these words writen on it. The light of God surrounds me The love of God enfolds me The power of God protects me The presence of God watches over me Wherever I am God is I don't always look at this when i need to, but it has given me comfort in the past just by reading this. I know that the Lord says to hide his word in your heart so that you might not sin against him, What are someways you fight temptation, or just need some extra corage for that matter. God Bless nate |

Rep Power: 1 ![]() | Blessings All I am very sensitive to my surroundings. It is in part do to who I am and what I do for a living. So a last resort for me is to move out of, or stay away from certain situations, surroundings or a certain atmosphere. My first reaction is to step back and re-focus on who I am in Christ. Then ask for guidence and strength through the Holy Spirit of God. I have asked many a times for the Holy Spirit of God to take a temptation or attack away from me. Whats messed up is when I like the temptation, thats when all hell breaks loose "literally". God Bless |

Rep Power: 1 ![]() | True words JM In my case I also use to do it. Right now I can't leave my own house. Just have to fight it with God's help. Nate, I will carry those words with me from now on. Thank you. |

Rep Power: 1 ![]() | May God Bless you Babs. You know I do take my physical self out of the situation i'm in if i see that it is heading down a sinful path, but sometimes that is not always possible in my job and like new wine says many time i, in the dark parts of my heart, do not even want to be removed and it is these times where i have to really step back and gain focus on the situation and try and focus my walk with the Lord, this also goes for gaining strength in a tough situation where my faith is being tested. |

| Senior Member ![]() | Temptation is quite a tricky thing really because we all have our weaknesses and are vulnerable in different ways. I think we have to be aware of where our weaknesses lie and to guard against straying into a situation that may cause us to sin. Sometimes that is physically removing yourself and sometimes removing yourself in your mind. If I think I'm in a situation that I can't handle I try to surround myself in prayer, keep my eyes fixed on Jesus and trust in God. |

| Psalm 119:125 ![]() | When those temptations would happen, brother, I reminded myself and Satan that I am not my own. I have given my life to Christ and have submitted myself to His control. Therefore, to decide to do that which I am tempted with, is not my choice. For if God says not to do it, He is the one I submit to, not my own selfish choices. As 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says, "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." Am I tempted to lie? To lie is not my choice to make. God said no, and therefore the choice is already made. Shut-up flesh. . . .and I rebuke you Satan in the name of Jesus. Last edited by HisServant77; 10-13-2004 at 09:49 PM. |
