I attend a Souther Baptist Church but consider myself a non-denominational Jesus Christ following Chrisitian. I have attened several different Baptist Churches and never has it been taught in any of them that you have to be baptised to be saved. Baptisim in a Baptist Church is a response to being saved in following with your acceptance of the gift with an act of obediance. While it is not required it is encouraged to be a testimony of our renewed faith. It is used a symbolic act to represent the death of our old sinful life and the rebirth of a new clean walk with the Lord. Baptist believe that salvation comes only through the grace of God...

Thanks Nate for the post. You are right this post is mis-leading. What I should have said is this........."I heard that there is a denomination of baptists that says you must be baptized to be saved." I have never actually been in a church that teaches that. However, I did do some research and I couldn't find any baptist churches that taught that doctrine. Thank you so much for clarifying this post.....
God Bless
P.S. It is great to see you Nate. *Hugs*

You know there are so many different denominations within the baptists denomination that I don't doubt one of them feel this way about being saved. I try to stay out of any denominational arguments whatsoever because I honestly feel that if any denomination that teaches anything other than complete saved by only the Grace of God with the blood of Jesus is simply put... Wrong! bottom line know what I mean...
well off my soap box... lol

You know JT, I know I don't come here as often as I should but when I do come by it feels like putting on an old shoe, I love it here and everyone here.

Great to see you to JT!!

I attend an independant Baptist Church.
There are certain basic things a Baptist church believes
called baptistic distinctives.
Here's the acrostic.

B.Biblical authority (Matthew 24:35; 1 Peter 1:23; 2 Timothy 3:16- 17)
A.Autonomy of the local church (Matthew 18:15–17; 1 Corinthians 6:1-3)
P.Priesthood of all believers (1 Peter 2:5-9; 1 Timothy 5)
T.Two ordinances (believer's baptism and the Lord'Supper
Acts 2:41–47; 1 Corinthians 11:23-32)
I. Individual soul liberty (Romans 14:5–12)
S. Saved church membership (Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 5:23– 32 Colossians 1:18)
T.Two offices of the church (pastor and deacon) (1 Timothy 3:1-1 13 Titus 1–2)
S. Separation of Church and State (Matthew 22:15–22)
