2 Corinthians 4:5 “For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord: and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.”

Today, the Word of God shows Paul mentioning that indeed, he along with the other apostles (especially those with him) did not preach their own selves, but preached Jesus Christ our Lord. If anything was mentioned about them, it was not to lift themselves up, but rather quite the opposite as they lowered themselves to be their servants, all for Jesus’ sake and none other! The reason this is mentioned in the Word of God, is to show us that indeed, our enemies are not flesh and blood, they are the devil and his minions. And it also shows us, that HIS enemy, is our Lord Jesus, and thus those who follow Him. Said in the verses before today’s, (verses 3-4) “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” We learn from the Word, where the focus of attack is, and why the attack comes in the first place. We learn, that Satan blinds the minds of them who believe not . . . because Paul and the others preach Christ Jesus the Lord and Saviour of all mankind! If man were being preached, or something entirely different from Christ, Satan would not go through such lengths to obstruct it’s path. Yet we clearly see, that Satan does obstruct the path of spreading the Truth of the Word of God, and this is because, it is Christ Jesus (Jesus is the Word come in the flesh, the Word of God is Truth, Jesus is the Truth and the Word). The entire word of God, is preaching Christ Jesus and none other. I remember hearing something said by another, how the Words of Christ are in RED in many Bibles, and the person asked, Why isn’t the entire Bible Red? Or at least, why aren’t the Words of God, spoken in the Old Testament, Red? Afterall, Jesus is God, and the Bible is the Words of God. . . The Entire Word of God, preaches Christ Jesus our Lord and Saviour. And this is why there is such an attack on it, and is why Satan has blinded the minds and hearts of them which believe not. Satan hates God the Father, but even more, he entirely loathes God the Son!

A physical example of such an attack, is Television. The name “God” on TV was attacked for a short while, yet it is not much under attack at all actually. Many reports of God’s Name being said on Television, and how shows are under attack for saying His name, are being repeated from old attacks that have grown cold and have hardly any strength left in them. However . . . Have you ever heard the Name of Jesus on Television? Have you heard Jesus’ name, coming from anything besides a pastor or evangelist on a “religious” program? Or if you have heard the Name of Jesus, have you heard it coming from a pure source? If ever it is used, most often it comes from a “stereotypical madman” or “hypocrite” who casts shame on the name of Christ Jesus. Oh, and yes you do hear His name being said in vain (no, not profanity, His name said in vain is when they say His name, yet mean nothing by it, they merely say His name, like regular words, or even in the place of a profanity when they are upset, wounded, or surprised). So, look at television for one example. Oh, some people might shudder when God is mentioned, but oh dear don’t EVER mention Jesus Christ the Saviour of the World! That is when the “fur flies!”

I’m not lowering the name of God, though, don’t think that. Instead I am showing, that Satan mainly attacks the only way to get to God. This is told by us in the Word, Jesus is the Door (To Salvation and God, John 10:9), and anyone who enters in not by the door, is a Thief. And the Thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy, (John 10:1,10) “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. . . The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

The entire world, knows and believes in God. Yes, even atheists. God has shown Himself to all, from birth even, so that they are without excuse, yet they refused to worship Him as God, and thus the many, many false beliefs and false “gods,” they worship instead. As it is shown in Romans 1:20-21 “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.” So, why focus your attack on the name of God, for so many believe in God, or rather some sort of “higher power” as they would say in their unbelief. Yet, attack Christ, and you attack the ONLY way to Salvation! Attack Christ, and the entire Word of God is attacked; the only way to God, and the only way to escape Satan’s grasp is attacked. Have a Mormon, a Hindu, Islam, preach Krishna, Buddha, Allah (no, Allah is not another name for our God, as some might teach) and people are told to be tolerant and just let it be. Preach Christ, and you have people saying not to be so “Intolerant” and they tell others to not tolerate such “intolerance” from us. The Preaching of Christ, is even more ferociously being called “Hate Crimes” now.

So with such a terrible and adamant attack on the preaching of Christ, should we stop or should we lessen our Preaching to a more acceptable level? Not at all, Even if you lessen the preaching of the Cross just a little, the devil and the World because of the devil, will not be satisfied until you completely water down the Word of God, and make Jesus not evident at all. With such attacks against the Gospel of Christ Jesus, we should instead, be very encouraged and keep going even stronger because it means we are doing something right, to stir Satan up and have him so adamantly against us!
