 | Psalm 118:8 “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.”
I pray that yesterday, though there was no study sent out, that you did spend time reading the Word of God. It’s our food which each and every day we must eat from. If we go without it, for even a day, we will start to grow weak and spiritually malnourished. I apologize for not sending one out yesterday, but I truly hope and pray that you did spend time reading the Word of our Lord, which gives us an increase in faith, strength, hope, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and truly brings us closer to our Lord as we learn what He has said to us.
Let’s look at the verse for today, which brings to us a very important reminder. We should trust in the Lord, more than ever putting confidence in man (including ourselves). This goes for all things, good and bad. People will so very often let us down. But God our Lord and Father will never let us down. We may feel at times that He does, but in all truth He hasn’t let us down, He’s simply doing something in a way which you didn’t think of . . . but His way is much better because our Lord sees into our hearts, the hearts of those around us, He knows the past, present, and future. Our Lord knows all things, and knows exactly what is needed for you. Therefore, Trust in the Lord, even more than your own desires and thoughts of how things should happen.
Our Lord and Father, has done so much for us, can we possibly believe that our Lord will stop helping us? He most certainly will never leave or forsake us. He may at times seem so far away and seem so small and as though He doesn’t want to help us or doesn’t want to have anything to do with us. But in all Truth, He has promised us that He will never leave nor forsake us who are the redeemed in the Lord! Those times when we need more faith to see Him, to hear Him, to feel Him, let us grow in faith and seek His Face! Indeed it is better to trust in the Lord, than to put confidence in man.
Let’s praise God for all He’s done for us, Verses 14-26, “The Lord is my strength and song, and is become my salvation. The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly. The right hand of the Lord is exalted: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly. I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. The Lord hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death. Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the Lord: This gate of the Lord, into which the righteous shall enter. I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation. The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Save now, I beseech thee, O Lord: O Lord, I beseech thee, send now prosperity. Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lord: we have blessed you out of the house of the Lord.”
Now in trusting the Lord our God, we have to realize just how our Lord works! Our Lord may very well send people to help us with a certain thing. Finances, encouragement, counseling, Our Father may very well send people, or some type or means of help, to help us with these things. I am reminded of a particular story which most of us have probably heard: A man was standing on the top of his house, with a flood rising all around him. He prayed for our Lord to help and to save him from death. While he was standing there with the rising waters getting closer to him, a man with a boat came along and offered his help to bring him to safety. The man replied “No, that’s okay. I’m waiting for God to save me.” and the man in the boat, confused, rowed away. The waters rose more and the man was now surrounded by water up to his chest. Then came a rescue helicopter who dropped a lifeline to save him. The man again refused, yelling as loud as he could for them to hear, that he was waiting for God to save him. They left because of the increasing danger, and the man’s refusal to be helped. Minutes later . . . the man was standing before God. The man then asked God, “Why didn’t you save me?” and God replied, “What do you mean? I sent you a boat and a helicopter.”
There are many times that God will use people in order to help us. We shouldn’t refuse that help, thinking that it would be a lack of faith to accept such help instead of relying completely on God alone. It wouldn’t be a lack of faith, unless you forget just who it is that sent those people to help: God. We have to remember what is said in James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” Medicine to heal, people with experience and knowledge to help . . . these things which are good, come from God. God is the one who allowed those people to know medicine, He is the one who has allowed those people to understand and know how to help with what we may need, and it is God who brought us to these people so that we can receive help from them.
In all this though, we have to remember not to develop a trust in man instead of God. When we do accept people’s help, let us remember to praise God and give God the glory for the help. And let us still trust in Him, saying to ourselves and the person helping, “Well, even if you are unable to help, I know God will provide either someone else who can help, or He will perform a miracle. Nothing is beyond God.” Ultimately we trust in the Lord, knowing that our Lord doesn’t always help us with great thunderings and lightnings and wondrous miracles and signs. We have to remember to look beyond what is seen in the physical. God could have very well caused someone to be woken up at 2am in the morning, and then called in to work at the hospital (he or she is a doctor), and just as they get in, you are admitted to the hospital with an emergency that only this doctor has experience in helping you. Or perhaps anything, even a person walking down the same isle of the same store you are in, who can help with just the problem you are having. Trust God, He is more than able to give us all help we ever need. At the same time never forgetting that God very well does use other people and certain situations as a means of providing that help. Praise God! Let us Trust in Him always!
I love you and do pray for you every day, even though I may miss a day of sending the studies, I still pray for you. May we never forget to, each and every single day, spend time reading the Word of God, and talking with our Father in prayer in the precious name of the Lord Jesus our Saviour! May we remember to always trust in our Lord for our help, He does not forget or forsake us! May God greatly bless you and guide you today and all the days of your life! Have a blessed day in the Lord today! | |
