Default Hebrews 10:36 Remain Steadfast

Hebrews 10:36 “For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.”

Today we look at what can very easily happen to us in this world, as we follow our Lord Jesus. We can become impatient in waiting for the promises of God. We can become doubtful that they will ever come. This is most certainly what can happen if we do not spend time in fellowship with other brothers and sisters. This is why it is good to have others who will help hold us up. And it is why it is good that we are ones who will help hold others up as well! We should be as Aaron and Hur, who helped to hold up Moses’ hands so the battle would be won, as Moses became tired in Exodus 17:12!

It is easy to find ourselves start out in our Christian walk with our Lord, being very zealous and eager to do good things, or go to church, or pray, or listen to God. Though many times the Child of God, as he or she grows older, risks become grumpy old men or women! We may say to someone who is eager to pray and get an answer: “Go for it, knock yourself out. I’ve been praying for Twenty Years and I still haven’t received an answer!” Other times we may start to say, concerning good works and righteous fruit, “Why bother? I’ve not seen any of the promises and blessings I’ve been promised!” When we do something for long periods of time, and we don’t seem to be getting anywhere or seeing the blessings and promises that we are told would come if we do these things, we can very easily become weary in well doing! But remember, God is not mocked, whatsoever a person sows, they will reap, so let’s not be weary in well doing because we WILL reap, in time (Galatians 6:7-9)!

The Hebrews, were being told this, because in the beginning they were so eager to give and to help out in the ministry. They were eager to aid those in the ministry. However, as time went on, they became a bit weary and doubtful as to whether the promises of God would actually come. Yet they were told: “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.

Our faithful waiting, our confidence in the hope of the promises and blessings of our Lord, has GREAT RECOMPENCE of reward! This means that the longer we faithfully wait, the greater our reward will be. Yet it isn’t because of the saying “absence makes the heart grow fonder,” it isn’t greater because we will love it all the more, for how long we’ve waited for it. It will honestly be MORE, the longer we wait. The longer we wait, and the more our Lord sees that we are faithful, the more our reward will increase! So don’t grow weary in well doing, keep going strong, and you’ll be adding to your reward!

As mentioned in the above verses, waiting for the Return of our Lord, is one of the things most often dwindled. I have said, and truly will stand firm in, that I believe I am in a generation that will see the return of the Lord . . . I believe that I will not see death, but will be “raptured!” I’ve pretty much always seen it that way. When I was a kid, before I started following the Lord, I was too young to think of death, and after, I never saw myself as dying, but meeting the Lord in the clouds! The reason I believe this, is because of the signs that are all around us. I believe the only two things that have not yet happened, are that the “son of perdition” be revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:3), and that the Gospel of the Kingdom be preached in all the world, for a witness to ALL nations (Matthew 24::14). And I believe that the former is waiting for the latter—I believe that God is waiting to reveal the son of perdition, that one who will be THE Antichrist, until WE have brought the Gospel to EVERY nation, and that last soul has heard the Word. Those are the only two things that are withholding His Return, and it really relies on US and our obedience to His command to witness! All in all though, when I am so strong in saying that I believe His Return is that close, many have said to me something along the lines of “That’s what they’ve been saying since Jesus arose back to the Throne!” I’m asked how I can believe that, when the body has been believing His Return to be in their generation, since the beginning! Well, I then show that all the signs are pointing to His Return. Then I am asked, How can I know it will be in this generation, and not One Hundred years from now, and that the signs are simply showing the start of how things are getting worse. To that, if no one wants to believe the signs show it, I say this, simply: Our Lord told us to Watch and Pray, and be on guard for His Return . . . therefore I choose to listen to Him, and Watch, Wait, Pray, and be alert enough that I believe it will happen this generation. I will obey what the Lord says, and if I’m wrong and I do die, then what harm is it if I have obeyed the Lord? None at all. (Besides, on a different note, if I am wrong, I could always blame those Christians who didn’t want to witness, and made our Lord delay!—kidding of course, although in a way it’s true.) We should never become like those spoken of in 2 Peter :3-4!

In all things, we need to remember to remain steadfast in our faith. We may not immediately see the promises and answers from our Lord, but that doesn’t mean they will not come, and it doesn’t mean that we will not receive them! I have yet to see myself bringing many to the Lord, yet God has promised it and I believe it, I just am waiting for it daily. I also do not yet see myself going around and being a speaker to the churches, or see myself being of a major help to the Body of Christ . . . Yet God has promised it, I believe it, and I am just waiting patiently. I don’t even yet see myself going full-time into the ministry . . . I still have a secular job where I need to make money, but God has called me to it, promised me it, and I believe it . . . in all this, I really do SEE the promises of God, they are real and by Faith I see it, I only wait for it to manifest itself in my life, and the lives of others.

Hebrews 10:38-39 “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.” Praise God for His Faith, and an increase of it in our lives, so that we do not fall away from the faith, back into sin!

I love you and do continue to pray for you each day. May we indeed have an increase of faith, and never grow weary in well doing. Let us hold each other up, because if we don’t, we will definitely grow weary and tired in such an evil world. May God Bless you and guide you in all you do. Have a great and blessed day today!
