 | Colossians 3:23-24 “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”
The last study we did, we were reminded and shown again how it isn’t enough that we keep ourselves without sin, but we must do righteousness. We were reminded of James 4:17 which says, “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”
Now though, we need to be reminded that as we work for the Lord, doing righteousness and good, and preaching, teaching, witnessing, and just doing whatever it is the Lord would have us do in this life . . . we must do the work of the Lord, For the Lord! Truly it can honestly be easy to become tired and weary when we do well. This is why we are told in Galatians 6:9 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
I believe one of the major reasons we may tend to become weary, is because it is not hard to, while working, start to forget that it is the Lord we work for, not people! But we need to never forget such a thing. Not too long ago, I can’t remember what it was that I had said to the Lord, but the Lord had told me in reply, “It’s just Me and you here.” When He spoke that to me, He truly reminded me that I work for Him, not people. Therefore I don’t need to be so worried about what others will think of the things I do, but rather that I need to consider what the Lord Himself thinks of the things I do!
It shocked me a bit as I realized that I had become tired and weary in well-doing, because I felt as though I was rushing about with my head missing, trying to make sure all these different people were getting what they wanted or needed or if they thought I was doing the right things, etc. Yet if we remember that we work for the Lord, we know that the Lord knows what we can handle and would not put on our shoulders anything that will bring harm or weariness to us. Now of course, as He does tell us and have us do things, we can very easily, as just explained in my case, become weary and tired because we forget who we are actually working for!
When we do good for others even, being nice and showing the Truth of God in love, we do so not really for the people, but for God! That may not sound right, and it may not sound loving, but it is the Truth! We don’t love others because they deserve love. We don’t witness because they deserve it. We don’t act righteous, because the world is worthy of our Lord working righteousness through us. Quite contrary, we are told of the prophets in Hebrews 11:38, that the world was not worthy of the prophets . . . and yet after that verse we are shown that we have been given something even greater! The world is not worthy of our presence either! However, without Christ we were the world, and we were definitely not worthy of our Lord shedding His Blood, so that we could have Life. We are now made worthy through Christ alone, though we don’t deserve such blessings as He gives us (we may be worthy, but still are undeserving . . . there’s a difference between being worthy of something, and deserving something)!
Knowing that, too, it helps us to continue on when we feel that others don’t appreciate or aren’t thankful for the things we do. That tends to happen a whole lot, as the Devil will whisper such things to our minds, making us feel upset and feel like not doing anything any longer! Yet we work for the Lord, not for people! It doesn’t matter if they appreciate it, what matters is that the Lord truly appreciates what you do for Him. Beside that, before we were saved by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus . . . did we appreciate what He did on the Cross? Did we, the moment we were born, live a life Thanking Him for such a sacrifice? Not at all, mostly we lived as though we couldn’t care one way or the other, about what He did for us. Let us work for the Lord!
In All Honesty, we don’t do things because we love the People . . . but because the Lord God loves the people, and we love God, and therefore if we love God, we will love the People as we have the Love of God. As we love God, we will indeed Love others, because we love God. It is just the same, we love God, because He first loved us!
That may not sound so loving in itself, but of a truth if we Love God, we will love the people as God loves them. We will do such things, because God wants us to do those things, not because we hope people will like us for them. We know that if we work for the Lord and do what He would have us do, it will benefit you and others. It is just up to others to accept such blessings from the Lord, through you.
As we work for the Lord, we need also to be reminded that the Lord knows what we can handle. If we need a break or we need to sit back and look at something, the Lord knows it and will allow it! To people it may appear as though we are lazy or it may appear that we don’t care enough about something, because we are not rushing as fast as we can, to get it finished. Yet the Lord sees and knows otherwise. It is to Him that we do the work, not for people. Yet in that example, we have to remember that the Lord also knows if we have decided to move from needing a break, or taking a step back to look at things, to not wanting to work at all and just being lazy. The Lord knows, and we need to remember that we can’t hide it from Him . . . and remember that He is the One we work for. He is the reason we are doing what we are doing in the first place!
The Lord is also not against our talking with Him while we work. The Lord is not against crawling when we need to crawl. The Lord is not against our seeking His Help, to do the things we do for Him. He is for such things, Because He knows that we can do nothing unless He helps us and enables us. Let us wait on the Lord, and let us work for the Lord our God and Father!
Be reminded of what the Lord told me, because it is the same thing for you. It’s just us and the Lord. Let’s remember that as we work for Him, to please Him. Our Precious Lord, wants us to remember, “It’s just Me and you, here.”
I love you so much with Godly, brotherly Love. I am keeping you and all those around you in my prayers! I pray that we never forget who it is we work for, and for whom we do anything! We do all things as unto the Lord and the Lord alone. Let us wait on the Lord as we work for Him, as well! May God Bless you abundantly beyond all else. Have a very blessed day today in the Lord! | |
