Jesus told people that the kingdom of God was near, and then demonstrated it by performing miracles (see Matthew 11:5; 4:23–25). But that was then, this is now. Should we expect miracles nowadays?
Many Christians believe that God no longer works in the world in this way – he has given us Jesus and his written Word to rely on. Many others believe that God does work miracles today, and that they should be expected, particularly when preaching the gospel.
What do you think – does Jesus want you to follow his example? If you’ve ever prayed for people to be healed, the chances are that not everyone you’ve prayed for got better.
Remember: Jesus didn’t heal every person he encountered either (see Matthew 13:53–58). And the disciples were unsuccessful on various occasions (see Matthew 17:14–16). Does that mean that healings don’t happen because of lack of faith, either in the pray-ers or prayees? Not necessarily.
Jesus healed some people who didn’t seem to recognise who he was or what he offered (see John 5:1–15), so we can’t generalise. But faith in those who pray seems to make a difference (see James 5:15).
The thing is, God’s kingdom is advancing and one day it will encompass every aspect of life and creation. But for now we’re in a battle against forces and movements that oppose God’s rule (see Ephesians 6:12).
With sensitivity to the Holy Spirit and to the situations in which we’re placed, Jesus can give us the words and actions to live lives of love, truth, grace and power. Might that not include miracles?
I'm fortunate to know God's healing and to have seen it work in the lives of those I love. Sad to say not all people will realize this be it in their disbelief or just plain not praying for healing as He has promised. I DO BELIEVE IN MIRACLES TODAY!
May God richly bless all who pass through here today.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ THOT FOR YOU - Your worst days are never so bad that you are beyond the reach of God's grace, AND your best days are never so good that you are beyond the need of God's grace.
I see miracles happen all the time myself Shell. Its a miracle that I can get out of bed every morning and I thank God whole heartedly for that.
I would venture to think that miracles are closely related to prayer in that if you should pray for something and you recieve it, would that not be deemed as a miracle?
I do not believe in cessation of the gifts of the Spirit, such as the show of Miracles by the Holy Spirit. The Bible does not say the Holy Spirit will stop, nor that God will cease to do Miracles
But Amen, people need to realize that answered prayers, being able to reach the ears of God Almighty, is indeed a miracle brought through Jesus!
Love in Christ,
Michael 2 Timothy 2:15 -- "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
Thanks JT & Micheal for your valued input.I am such a believer in prayer that it is almost an obsession with me. In my mind, I am talking with God all the time and the miracles that happen as a result are endless.
I thank God for all the blessings and wonderful works He has sent and done for me.
I don't think that's obsessive at all, brother. I think that is following the Word of God where it says to Pray without Ceasing. You sound like you do just that, by remaining before the Throne of God and having that fellowship and communication with Him always!

I do believe in miracles and I do believe they are still happening today. The problem is, that country has lost touch with God and do not see "miracles" as miracles, they have come to believe that they are doing everything all by themselves, when it is actually God who is working in them and through them. This reminds me of the poem "The Footprints". As you can see by my blogs, God is working miracles through me, by helping me to have patience with the individuals I work with. He is actually work through each one of us, on here, so many times we wonder why someone said what they did, but, we do not really know why, but because of what was said, it actually blessed someone, which is another form of a miracle. We do serve an awesome God.
