I've been considering putting Linux on my old Laptop. I know there's a some useful things about Linux, that Windows can't do as easily.
Anyone here use it? I was going to dual boot Linux and XP on my old Laptop, but when I went with Ubuntu I found it wouldn't allow me to do that (even though it should work). Only to use the whole HDD or partition it manually. So I'll probably figure that out later on.
So . . . anyone here with Linux experience and/or use it now?

I'm not familiar with Linux at all. However, my old supervisor who did our computer updating at dispatch/sheriff dept. swears by Linux and wouldn't use any other. Sorry I can't be more specific. He's a puter junkie though!
May God richly bless all who pass through here today.

Yeah, Linux has a lot of things over Windows. The main downside though, is certain hardware needs extra work to get functioning whereas windows tends to do it automatically. That, and Linux tends to need some command lines typed out for certain things where windows doesn't need that. So you kinda have to know what you're doing So if you're new to Linux . . . uhh, it can be daunting, as with me

I have never used Linux. Have heard of it, can you please share some of the things it can do, that windows can't? I know some about computers, but not a Computer Whiz, . One thing I do know, they keep getting more powerful, but also getting a lot smaller, .
I remember way way back when I was in high school, the only computers they had were to do the report cards on and as big as they were, big as a whole room, some as big as a house, probably didnt have the memory that we have on our personal computers of today.
It is amazing how God is blessing us with so much technology, huh?
