I recently learned something new about John 15.

King James Version
2Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Nasb
2"Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He [a]prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.

niv
2He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful.

In different versions it says He cuts off or takes away the branches, but in the original greek it means "to lift up". I was listening to an expositional teacher on John 15 and his teaching was very different from what I understood this verse to mean. I would love to hear from anyone about their take on this. I will add more about what I learned later. Blessings.

I am always concerned with translations. I'm all for easier to understand text but you can see that translation can indeed vary its meaning greatly with these little change of words. I too prefer the lift up for translation. Will be looking forward to more on this too.
